A powerful system of treating illness that has been practiced in China and other Asian countries for thousands of years, acupuncture is the placement of very fine, thin, sterile needles at specific points on the body. Acupuncture works by influencing the flow of your body’s qi, usually defined as “vital energy,” which travels along specific pathways in the body called “channels.” Inserting needles at specific acu-points stimulates the body, regulating its physiological activities, and helping the body deal with various health issues. Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain, but it can also treat many other common health conditions as well.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Inger is a licensed acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist, and East Asian Medicine practitioner. She has a Master’s degree in Acupuncture & East Asian Medicine, (Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine) and a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine, (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine). Her clinic, which includes an herbal pharmacy, is located in Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood.

“Over the course of treating patients for 16 years, I have discovered that emotional health has a significant impact on physical health. A person with a history of emotional trauma often experiences physical symptoms in the present, such as stomach aches, neck pain, and insomnia. This pattern of disharmony can be resolved by regulating the body’s qi to reset and balance the physiological and nervous systems.”

Inger’s specialties are women’s health issues, (including infertility), autoimmune disorders, anxiety and depression, and pain relief (such as back and neck pain).

She also treats motor vehicle accidents, seasonal allergies, addiction, eating disorder recovery, PTSD, sleep disorders, diverticulitis, Crohn’s, IBS, dizziness, vertigo, post-concussive syndrome, chronic fatigue, Bells’ Palsy, psoriasis, eczema, and the side effects of cancer treatments.

Inger’s treatment approach is to design a customized treatment plan for each patient that always includes acupuncture and, depending on the patient’s needs, possibly the other modalities of Chinese medicine: tui na (massage) and cupping therapy, Chinese herbs, food recommendations, and qi gong (exercise).
